Significant step toward third party access to rail haulage services in the Pilbara

The Pilbara Rail Access Interdepartmental Committee (PRAIC) was established by the Western Australian Treasurer in 2006 to advise Cabinet in relation to the development of a State-based access regime for haulage of iron ore on Pilbara railways. On 10 June 2008, PRAIC released the draft Pilbara Railways (Third Party Haulage) Regime 2008 (Regime), which was developed in consultation with BHP Billiton and other key stakeholders.

PRAIC is now seeking comment on the draft Regime from industry and the broader public prior to the preparation of its final report on the preferred format and implementation of the Regime. This update is designed to provide you with a brief overview of the Regime.
