National Competition Council releases positive draft recommendations for Pilbara railways

On 20 June 2008, the National Competition Council (NCC) published positive draft recommendations on applications by The Pilbara Infrastructure (TPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortescue Metals Group, for declaration of rail track services provided by railways owned by BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto entities in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

The positive drafts are significant for TPI and junior miners in the Pilbara who require access to rail transport services in order to export iron ore.
