Quick work on EzyDVD Acquisition

DLA Phillips Fox assisted Video Ezy Australasia to secure the acquisition of the EzyDVD business and assets out of Receivership. The acquisition was signed and completed on 21 January 2009, less than 1 week after the Receivers accepted Video Ezy's offer to acquire the EzyDVD business.

Comprising over 40 corporate and franchised stores, and www.ezydvd.com, Australia's leading online DVD store, the EzyDVD business was keenly sought by Video Ezy. The EzyDVD business adds to Video Ezy's network of over 1,200 corporate and franchised stores in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.

The team was led by partners Richard Moshinsky and Fleur Gibbons (competition issues) and included Judith Miller in Sydney and Nadia Cooke, Josh Heard and Gerry Bean (tax) in Melbourne. The firm previously acted for Video Ezy in its acquisition of the Blockbuster Video business in Australia and New Zealand.
