Changes under the Building and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2009

The relevant parts of the Building and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2009 (Qld) (BLAA) commence on 1 January 2010.

The BLAA amends a number of Acts, including the Property Agents and Motor Dealers Act 2000 (Qld) and the Body Corporate and Community Management Act 1997 (Qld).

The key changes include a new requirement for sellers to provide a ‘Sustainability Declaration’ and the introduction of a legislative regime for property developments that seeks to overrule any instruments which limit or prohibit sustainable building practices.
