Global opportunities
Our Global Opportunities program sets us apart.
We can support our people’s desire to experience working life in other parts of the world through the global DLA Piper network – giving them opportunities to work on multi-jurisdictional, international matters with quality clients and colleagues around the world.
The program offers a variety of ways for our people to work overseas.
Secondments (legal staff) - we offer strategic secondments to strong performers in our legal teams, as a career development opportunity. The strategic secondments will typically be related to the legal competencies that our firm intends to strengthen, and will usually be for at least six months. Lawyers selected by the firm for strategic secondments will be able to develop their knowledge and skills and to build client and peer networks that will benefit them and our business when they return. We are currently targeting opportunities in the UK, Asia and the US.
Project assignments (legal staff) - we offer lawyers project assignments to a DLA Piper office that urgently requires additional skilled and experienced people to meet an immediate client service requirement. Most of these opportunities are in the fast-growing DLA Piper offices in Asia and the Middle East.
Secondments (non legal professionals) - where we want to accelerate knowledge sharing, fill a short-term role or staff a key project in a core non legal area we'll exchange staff with DLA Piper for an agreed time period, usually up to six months.
Placements - wherever possible, we identify suitable vacancies in a DLA Piper office for our people who intend to live and work overseas for a year or two. This opportunity is available to all of our people who've demonstrated strong performance. Such placements are for a fixed term of at least one year and typically no more than two years.
