Janice has specific expertise in intellectual property law. She has experience assisting with both litigious and non-litigious matters, including:

  • Trade mark selection, trade mark availability, trade mark registration both locally and internationally, trade mark oppositions and non-use removal actions, trade mark licensing, trade mark co-existence agreements, trade mark infringement and related actions under the Trade Practices Act 1974 and for passing off.
  • Subsistence and ownership of copyright, the scope of copyright protection, licensing of copyright and copyright infringement.
  • Design registration, scope of registered design protection and design infringement.
  • Ownership and scope of patent protection, and patent infringement.
Janice has worked in various capacities within intellectual property law for a considerable period of time. She has been actively involved in law reform and teaching at university level. Janice holds a part-time appointment an the Law School of The University of Melbourne where she teaches trade marks and designs law.
