Katherine provides commercial law services specifically for Commonwealth Government clients.
She has specific expertise in providing clients with the full range of legal services needed to ensure efficient and effective Commonwealth government procurement. These services include providing advice on:
- Compliance with government procurement documentation and reporting policies.
- Preparing and reviewing procurement documentation (including sole source documentation, requests for expressions of interest and requests for quotations or tenders).
- Advising on evaluation and probity issues.
- Contract drafting and negotiation.
Katherine also advises Commonwealth clients in relation to compliance with relevant legislation (eg the Financial Management and Accountability Act or Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act), advice on corporate structure and governance for Commonwealth companies, intellectual property issues, joint venture arrangements, trade practices issues, funding and grant arrangements, trademark matters and software licensing arrangements.
Katherine has extensive knowledge about the practical issues affecting Commonwealth government clients, gained through several lengthy secondments to Commonwealth agencies, where she provided in-house commercial expertise to their Legal Services Units. Katherine became, and remains, an integral part of those agencies' legal teams.
