Michael is recognised as one of Australia's leading insurance lawyers.
Michael has considerable regulatory and industry knowledge and advises many of Australia's leading insurers. He acts for many insurers and reinsurers in Australia as well as in the UK, Europe, North American and Asian markets.
Michael has particular expertise in the establishment and operation of mutual indemnity funds, having both established and participated in the operation of such funds. Michael advises various industry bodies on compliance, regulation and changes to legislation.
Michael is the editor of DLA Phillips Fox Insurance publications and the Lexis Nexis 'Annotated Insurance Law' publication. He is also a co-author of 'Surveyors and their professional liability - a manual of loss prevention'.
Michael is a former President of the Law Society of New South Wales and the Law Council of Australia. He was the inaugural Chairman of the New South Wales Motor Accidents Authority.
Michael is the Chairman of the Insurance Industry Code Compliance Committee and is Vice-President of the International Insurance Law Association. He was the foundation President of the Australian Insurance Law Association and remains a member of its National Board. Michael was the inaugural Chairman of the Solicitors Mutual Indemnity Fund (NSW).
